The “Astral Plane” or “Body of Light” in metaphysics relates to the experience of tapping into the higher realms, beyond the physical. In numerology, the master number “22” is a “master builder”, and signifies inspiration, intuition, being a visionary, and the realization of larger goals beyond personal ambition.

Songwriter/Producer/Label Founder

Armand Tulumello, aka Astral22 began composing and recording songs at age 11 witharmand1.png guitar and keys, on an old reel to reel recorder in his basement.

“I’m always hearing music (endlessly), - arrangements, melodies, lyrics, are in my mind, until I record them and a new song is born”.

Nourished and influenced by the musical diversity of his native (Queens) New York City, this now Los Angeles transplant claims that the art of writing and producing has everything to do with being aware of your surroundings, and being a good listener. Blending sounds, ideas, emotions, with instruments in harmony are his tools. With a style that respects the flow, simplicity, and melodies that reach the depths of the soul, he draws his inspiration from the roots of Classic and Contemporary Soul/R&B, Funk, Hip Hop, Jazz, Rare Groove, Blues, Gospel, and the rhythms of the African Diaspora.

August 2009 -The anticipated (two years in the making) full length 15 track collaboration CD tiled “Astral22 Presents… Imperial” is currently release on Astral22’s boutique label “Trans Phatt Records”. This spirited “soulful”, “smooth”, “feel good” production showcases Astral22’s collaborations and reworks with a variety of hand picked emerging and established quality independent soul talent. Artists featured on the project include: (in alphabetical order), Fernando Cardo, Katie Cole, La Sonya Gunter, LeNora Jaye, Heidi Martin, Shuane Odunaiya, Mz. Pat, Shanell Rene’e, Stephanie Renee, Rogiérs, Rena Scott, and Simone. Also featured are songwriter collaborations with Akihiro Nanri and Kirsten Nissen. Astral22’s inspiration and enthusiasm for the genre and artists represented on “Imperial” is a testament to the growing Independent Global Soul Movement.

armand2.png“What is unique about the artist-producer relationship is the push and pull and my ability to bring out things the artist didn’t know they had. I really enjoyed “letting go” and affording the artists creative control on “Imperial”. I was able to bring out something different on this record, and showcase a part of their artistry that contrasts what they’ve previously released. These artists all inspired me, and it was a pleasure to see how the marriage of my musical energy and their creativity and talent brought each song together in a unique way. “Imperial” has exceeded my expectations on every level”.

While listening to the Astral22 interview I realized that we have a lot in common. Music is my passion and has been a refuge as well. No matter what happens in life music is always there..
Even though reaching a desired goal will take hard work dedication and sacrifice, the journey is worth it all when the vision become a reality.
Imperial is a beautiful CD..each song is very special, filled with hope and positive messages that everyone can relate to. I love them all..
Armand may your future plans come to be..continue to reach for that shining star~As always Thank you Souly
:)
